The end of an era. After a week long series of parties, my five+ years at Deutsche Bank is now over
I’ve worked with some absolutely fantastic people. I’ll miss you all. Web Infrastructure has been a fantastic group to work in and I know it has a bright future. I only wish I could have two jobs at the same time!
See more photos I took with my mobile phone…
What do you do when you’re a company that has a whole load of surplus stock, say of old crappy MP3 players, that doesn’t know what to do with them?
Give them away of course!
And that’s precisely what Dabs did to me and why I have to then go to all the effort of getting rid of it.
My flat’s managing agents today told me that Tower Hamlets will be kind enough to give us recycling bins for the whole block, although I have to wait now for a “survey”. I wonder if they’ll have an old MP3 player bin?
It is a sad day. My Tivo sale on eBay has finished.
I’ve had my Tivo for many years and it has been my pride and joy for a long time. It has a far superior interface to the Sky offering, it keeps track of my preferences, it has a better controller, it has a more responsive fast forward and rewind, it allows me to view the channel listings whilst still watching the current program, it can record things at lower bitrates, it can limit the number of records per programme, it shows you where you are in a recording you’re watching properly… it’s just great really.
But… HD has arrived. There’s no option anymore. If I want HD, I can’t have Tivo.
It’s amazing though how my Tivo hasn’t depreciated so much! My 32″ LCD TV which I bought a year ago (~ £1500 via internet) is worth 30% of what I bought it for, but the Tivo which I’ve had for 4 years, albeit with a few upgrades, has just sold for more than I paid for it!
Come on Tivo, come back in to the UK market. Build a dual Sky HD tuner with the Tivo interface.
Or, Sky, drop that hideous interface and design something for a modern TV.
Sigh.
I didn’t win the lottery. Boo hoo. I think it must be a mistake.
